Pfft, that's not what FPP in Britain is about!

That is the downside... how would we cope with such fairness?:P

The differences between the three big parties are very slim, really, on a full spectrum. There's not that much they'd disagree about.

While there isn't a lot, there are some really obvious differences when it comes to approaches to the key issues. Europe, defense spending (Trident), electoral reform, immigration and huge issues around tax - Lib Dems and Tories are completely different on that.
In fact, I'm not sure what they would actually agree on? Beyond old people being nice, our soldiers being brave etc.

They've got a rather larger proportion of the vote than either of the other two... Not sure of your point here?

36% for them.
Labour and Lib Dems aren't that far behind... and the simple fact is that two centre-left parties make for a fairly natural alliance, unlike a centre-left and a centre-right party. So fromt hat point it is really not good for the Tories, as they can be shut out easily.
The key point though is this - more people in this country vote for left leaning parties than right leaning parties, as over 50% of the vote going to just Labour and Lib Dems alone shows. The popular vote is not kind to the Tories.

They don't, actually. That was one of the things I noticed in their manifestos.

I guess this goes back to the comments above:P

That could indeed happen.

It would be a fairly smart move - let the Tories take the heat for what all of them know has to happen.
