It should rattle anyone who lives in a democracy and who likes their way of life random thoughts Send a noteboard - 28/04/2010 11:15:18 PM
Texas has one of the best economies in the country. We have lots of high tech and good paying jobs with a moderate cost of living. The value of my house dipped maybe 2% but now is higher then it was three years ago and they are still building new houses. The construction company my wife works for on saw a slight dip during the recession and now they are growing again. Taxes are low we have good schools. Our schools significantly out perform California’s even though we have similar demographics and they spend more per child then we do.

It is also a good place to live. Look at the recent story where I guy was left to die in the streets of New York. That doesn’t happen here, I guy attacked a killed a man in restaurant a few days ago and the people in restaurant chased him down and held until the police arrived. The state has it own history and culture, it as its own style of food and it even has its own music. Hollywood and east coast liberal journalist have created a distorted idea what Texas is like but it is unique. Watch Whip It that is more Texas then most movies you can watch.

In 3 years all of that will probably be changed completely. What happened to California will happen here and the state will be pushed further and further to left as taxes rise and school performance drops. Business will start leave and as things get worse people will demand more and more help which only raise taxes and maker matters worse. I will be very old by then and I will have to move to Montana which is very cold. That is going to suck because I hate the cold.
