I don't think the hotel was wrong in its decision. I somehow doubt that they were the only ones in the hotel at that time, so the workers that did not meet their demands could simply work elsewhere.
Frankly, I'm tired of my fellow Americans suing everyone for breathing in their direction. If this was an American couple who had been told they would not be serviced, they probably would have sued the hotel themselves anyways.
As much as we don't like the couple's actions, they did not harm anyone by their actions (except perhaps someone's pride). Honestly, even when I've stayed at nicer hotels, I hardly saw anyone except whomever brought up room service or checked us in/out. Unless these people were spending most of their time at the hotel for some reason, it is unlikely that their request even created a logistical burden. If that is how they were spending their time, then they need to learn how to vacation!!!

They should've told them to take a hike, but the claim for 75k disgusts me too.

What sort of tips do you think a racist would give a black waiter?

Nonsense. The hotel should refuse to do so, and people who disagree can go elsewhere.

This is a good point. And it's unlikely he'll be continuing to work there, so... *NM*

I disagree. Those ridiculous claims are a major problem in America.

I would agree if he was demanding a million or 200k. *NM*

Why is 75k all right, but 200k not? Where do you draw the line, and why? *NM*

The line is arbitrary, I agree. Yet Legolas was against the mere idea of financial recompense

If it isn't a money issue, I'd go - this shows how far they will accomodate their guests.

But it's the same principle - kicking someone out for something you don't like about them.
