Well he wasn't all talk about Health care SilverWarder Send a noteboard - 22/04/2010 04:44:39 PM
While not pertinent to the current topic, and whether you like or hate the changes made they DID go through.

And that certainly wasn't an easy thing.

I have to agree on this though. Were I president I'd have already said, "I'm the Commander and Chief and this stops now."

And I'd have made it retroactive and restored the benefits and careers of anyone who got kicked out over this idiot policy too.

Sheesh. Any moron who thinks that someone's sexual preferences influences how good a soldier they are need look no further than Thermopylae, Alexander the Great, Mithradates, or the Sacred Band of Thebes.

Well okay - maybe it does have an influence. If the examples I listed are taken into account (there is no question of them being believed) being gay or bisexual might well make you a BETTER soldier.

Oh and just to be fair - being a woman doesn't make you a crappy soldier either - particularly not in a world where upper body strength doesn't matter quite so much anymore. Just ask Xerxes after the Battle of Salamis.

May God stand between you and harm in all the empty places you must walk.
