"Unread messages" vanish too quickly

Reported by: Craig

When I first click on an MB, threads with unread messages have the proper, different-colored folder. However, the folders are often marked as "read" too quickly - for instance, once I click on "your threads," the folders had already changed colors, making it difficult to find the new posts again. I'm assuming it's just a settings issue...?
Oddly I don't seem to have this issue on the CommMB. *NM*
This is probably related to bug 17 *NM*

The boards highlight threads with new posts in the last half hour.

And this updates every 10 mins.

Is showing posts from the last 30 mins not long enough?
It would be nice to be able to see all posts with new replies since your last visit *NM*

By the way, it seems edits are enough to make a post get tagged as "new" again?
That's pretty clever really, though perhaps rather confusing if you don't know about it and keep searching for that new reply that isn't actually there.

Well, I also have that problem, honestly - I've been posting and replying a lot in the last couple days, and by the time I got through the entire board once or twice, it had refreshed.

But no, that's not exactly what I was talking about, but maybe I didn't phrase it well. There are times when I'll first enter a board, and the appropriate threads are labeled "unread." Then the first thing I do is click "view your threads," and that also seems to refresh the board, so now I cannot see which of my threads contain unread messages.
Possible solution?
If you're using sessions, store the last MB visit in a session variable that only updates when a new session is started. I'm not sure how phpBB et al do it, but it seems to be something like that.
Floffe, I hope that was directed at Ben?
If not, I've no idea how to do that. :(
