But my loose fuzzy idea of what I consider cyberpunk is a near future dystopia where most of the science in the story is about computer networks and hackers. Big evil mega corporations run the world with gritty and depressing main characters. I have not really read that much of it but I didn’t really like what I read and I have liked almost none of the cyberpunk movies like Johnny Mnemonic or even really Matrix for that matter. The special effects in Matrix were cool but the story left a lot to be desired. I prefer more physics based scfi and while like dystopia I am not a big fan of the decayed society version.

Theme-wise it's fairly close to what you describe, only not boring.

I feel there's definitely some anti-corporationism in there, but it's wildly exaggerated. *NM*
