Besides the near-ubiquitous 50 Book Challenge, there are a variety of "reading challenges," both personal and between several other readers, that people partake of every year. It might be to read at least 20 books written by women or 10 books that were originally published in a different language or at least one book from each of the six permanently-inhabited continents.
For myself, I have a variety of reading projects on-going at this time. Below are few of the ones I'm currently doing:
1) Reading dozens of lit journals/magazines for Best American Fantasy 4
2) Participating in the Russian Book Club (almost forgot that the next play/story is tomorrow; will have to read that one in the morning)
3) Re-reading Frank Herbert's Dune series and blogging about each book (just started; post within 24 hours)
4) Re-reading the first eleven volumes of The Wheel of Time and blogging about each book (just started; post within 24 hours)
5) Reading 100 books that aren't in English (currently around 45 books read in Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, Latin, and Serbian)
6) Reading 400 books for 2010 (about to finish #124)
How about you? What reading projects are you working on at this time?
