whether I would pay for it is another matter.
You mean you wouldn't trust my editorial judgment?
I want to see it in practice first
You'll see it in probably February 2011, maybe slightly sooner. I do need to get back to reading a few more stories, come and think of it. Found a really good one in a lit journal the other day that I think will be a good read for both genre and lit fiction readers alike. Hopefully, the guest editor will concur with me. Only have about 30 more journals and magazines to read by May 31. Not too much work, is it?
But anything with squirrels in it will rule, though
It is a good idea. In a slightly insane way. I imagine it would be a good conversation starter. Most of my friends are (like me) the kind of people who inspect your book shelf whenever they come over), and a Squirrelpunk anthology would raise questions. Perhaps that could be part of its marketing campaign? Come to think of it, I want in.
Did you see that mock cover that Dunja created for me? I would imagine that cover alone would entice quite a few people into wanting to check it out. And yes, if marketed right, I think it could find a strong niche audience. If Miéville can have his monsters and VanderMeer his squid and meerkats, why not I be associated with squirrels?
