I was worried about WoT after reading Elantris, because frankly, while the basic plot was good, the execution left something to be desired. I thought the story was rushed, details were left out, characters were under-developed and the pace was hurried. Having read nothing of Sanderson's before, I had to trust to Harriet's judgment in her choice to finish WoT. So, I went ahead and picked up Mistborn too. Hallelujah! It was MUCH better than Elantris, I thought. So now I'm in between, waiting until I can make it to the bookstore and pick up the rest of the Mistborn Trilogy. But I feel much better having seen how much Brandon developed as a storyteller between Elantris and Mistborn.
Elantris.

Elantris is a poor measure of Sanderson.

Yes, Elantris was the first book he sold so to judge him solely on that is not fair
