I thought this was a great read, and I'm sure I've missed a lot, which will make a reread good too.

My copy, which is the translation by Hayward and Harari, has a blurb on the top of the front cover: "One of the greatest love stories ever told". The further I got through the book, the more this annoyed me. The love story is almost incidental to the rest of it, I thought.
Really, the book's about a man's struggle to find his place in a rapidly changing country. I thought Pasternak did an excellent job of showing us the turmoil and struggle of the times.
And I wonder how much of it is personal.

I mostly agree with your points, but I'm not sure Zhivago was ever disillusioned with revolution.

Yes, it's the Soviet state, not the revolution, that he hates.
