I wouldn't expect an in-depth analytical review post about a book someone didn't finish, f'rinstance. But if someone writes about how far they got, their reaction to the material they'd read, and why they didn't feel like they could/would go any further, I certainly wouldn't be upset about that.

It's the people who write stuff like "I read a hundred pages of this book, it sucks, don't read it it's awful the end" that annoy me.

Craig has it - I think it's very valuable when people say why they couldn't finish a book and just as valid as a full review. However, authors in particular don't like it. I and many other review bloggers have come up against it in fairly negative ways.
