It's not high art, but there are a number of things that, in part because I read them at a critical time (i.e. about when I decided all preachers I'd ever known were full of it, ) a number of things have stuck with me, in particular how WRONG the way they decide a souls fate is. Not that part's particularly creative or original; I think if you asked, 3/4 people would agree with 90% of it, but raising the issue and the various contradictory special cases encourages further consideration of them. Anthony himself is, unless he's changed radically and recently, a confirmed agnostic, and it shows, but in presenting the case fairly thoroughly and plausibly he ultimately convinced me there's more going on there than most of us believe are or even willing to admit.
It's a pretty good metaphysical ride, and if nothing else does a great job of reminding us there are multiple sides to every story, because we see seven different people thrust into very unusual positions, and several times the same event is seen from each of their viewpoints in different volumes. Also: Ares is filth.

Otherland is also good, but it meanders a lot more than MS&T. Also, it's more sci-fi than fantasy. *NM*
