Kay has written plenty of good stand alones, though. Also, anything by Gene Wolfe is a rather safe bet when it comes to quality. (Latro books could be interesting, or book of the new sun)

Does she read other languages? Getting hold of the witcher books from that polish sapkowski dude might work, keeping in mind that few books are translated to english...
