I finished this book last night, and figured I’d shoot out another book review for you guys. Neil Gaiman is a big name in fantasy. If you’ve never heard of him, perhaps you’ve heard of the movies Stardust, or Mirrormask, or the graphic novel series Sandman. He’s won the Nebula Award, The World Fantasy Award, the Hugo Award, and the Bram Stoker Award. In short, he’s a living legend in fantasy.

Imagine the jungle book, but instead of bears and panthers, a young boy is raised by ghosts in a graveyard. This is The Graveyard Book’s core, the story of a toddler who lost his family in a terrible murder, and waddled away from the house just in time to escape the murderer. He is taken in by a family of ghosts and raised to adulthood, experiencing some adventures, and struggling to live among both the living and the dead.

I really thought this was a great book, and it made me want to dip into several of the more popular Gaiman novels, like Neverwhere, American Gods, Anansi Boys etc. I give this book 9.5/10, and think it would be an excellent addition to any Young Adult collection. It has very little violence, a great story, and is just good old fashioned excellent writing. If you've read it, I'd love to hear what you think.
