If the DRM merely prevents copying, I don't see why that's such a big deal to some people. We've always gotten along just fine with not being able to multiply much of what we buy (like books), so I don't know why people feel entitled to be able to have copies of their digital purchases.
If I download a DRM infected book to my laptop, then I cannot transfer it to a seperate e-reader, or my wife's laptop, or my phone, etc. If I get a new computer, I'm screwed. If I get a new ereader, I'm screwed. And what's worse, some DRM (like Amazon) allows them to delete your book without your knowledge or concent. DRM cuts out the flexibiity I want in a product. When I purchase a book, I want to actually own it.
Now there are ways to strip DRM from ebooks, but I don't have time to go through that extra step.

Sony, surprisingly, is DRM free. But yes, you should wait until the format war is over. *NM*
