And I think one of the reasons for that is her over reliance on the first person narrative to create a false depth of character.

It's funny how different of opinions people can have about the same author. See, I know that my opinions are partially colored by the fact that I just can't stand Fitz as a character... just totally don't care about the events of his life. That makes reading a series based mostly on his personal angst and actions rather difficult to read.
