You should also probably try Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn. If you like that, try his others: Warbreaker and Elantris.
He is definitely an author to read if you enjoy fantasy.
Or just really agreed with the Sanderson suggestion?
I find Hobb's works to be overtly average. There are moments here and there of very high quality storytelling, but I find the writing to be rather melodramatic, the story to be rather underwhelming. I've read the first series and parts of the third. I plan try the Liveship series this spring sometime.
Not everyone can like everything, and Hobb just isn't for me is seems.
Does Erikson get better?
