I don't like library books. I don't like the fact that the feculent, infected masses of humanity turned the pages of the book after picking at their psoriasis scabs and their eczema, coughing tubercular spittle on the pages and reading those books while using the worst toilet in Scotland Grand Central Terminal. They underline "fuck" wherever they find it and star sentences for no obvious reason.
I read books because they were new. Just like I wouldn't want to pick up used toilet paper, I avoid used books (unless they were in our family - then they're not "used", they're rare old books).
As for your second point, find me the hardcover versions on amazon.fr and I'll buy you a book that is reasonably priced as a prize.
