I run a lot of automated test at work and sitting there listening to my ipod looks better then reading when I am at work.
Some books work better as audio books then other and books I enjoy as paper books do not always translate into good audio books. It needs to not only be a good story but it needs good prose as well, not to mention it needs to be well read. Listen to a sample first if you can since you don't want to waste your $15 credit on a book read in a style that annoys you. I try to avoid books where the reader is a different gender then protagonist since most guy make females sound flighty and weak and most women make males sound stupid.
You should also check and see which books your library has for free down before you purchase one. I almost bought Gathering Storm when before I downloaded it from my library.
Julian Comstock from Robert Charles Wilson is probably the best book I have listened to in a while. His book A Bridge of Years was very good as well. I gave up on Greg Bear's City at the End of Time. Wasn't really that bad just seemed to drag.
The more generic genre stuff tends to be hard to listen to but then again I have gotten tired of reading it as well.
