I agree, but that wasn't the point... fionwe1987 Send a noteboard - 09/01/2010 03:11:16 AM
But that point I was making was that Martin is far more deserving of the criticism "The setting is typical fantasy scape" than Jordan.

Sure, Martin's medieval world is more accurate. But the landscape, the political situation... those are far more generic than Jordan's is.

Jordan's world can barely be called medieval. And certainly, few fantasies have attempted to create a female-dominant society, then reflected the consequences of that on the history, politics and status of their world, as well as their plot and characters.

(And before someone says it, I think RJ did overdo this aspect, and the execution was sometimes clumsy. But overall, it is rather well done, and the manner in which he has let this factor permeate everything from the conversation of characters to the customs of the people is impressive.)

Nynaeve doesn't have red hair! She has brown hair! - 07/12/2009 09:29:07 PM 606 Views
She's not a priestess, either. Other than "red-haired priestess" the rest was 100% valid. - 08/12/2009 12:39:07 AM 597 Views
I mentioned her not being a priestess in my earlier post. - 09/12/2009 03:23:12 AM 574 Views
Don't you think that, if that were corrected, the entries would be pretty much valid? - 09/12/2009 09:12:55 PM 557 Views
