Personally I always prefered the side stories. Roland00 Send a noteboard - 06/01/2010 02:50:02 AM
specifically Moretta Dragonlady of Pern, Dragonsdawn, and the Masterharper of Pern. I also have a soft spot for The White Dragon, Harpershall Trilogy, and All the Weyrs of Pern.

While Dragonflight and Dragonquest were okay, I couldn't connect with the characters the same. F'lar and F'nor are boring as :censored: and the new crop of characters are much the same. Lessa was the only main character who was interesting in the first two books.

The Skies of Pern is unreadable. I haven't dared touch the books written by her son, and I can't respect the series as I once did once I learn about McCaffrey's views on Homosexuality.
