Yes, there is a distinct order. everynametaken Send a noteboard - 02/01/2010 05:31:25 AM
Some time ago I was given a number of the Xanth books. I really know nothing about the series; is there a first book? Or does the order not matter?

The books have distinct characters through their progression and often they are the offspring or companions/friends of characters in previous books. I read the first ten or so years ago and enjoyed them but then tired of the series as it became so far removed from the original books that I didn't continue. I have no idea how many there are now but I do remember enjoying the early ones a lot.

Try Wikipedia or Google to find the order of them.
