I think both have their place. Just like you'll have your in-home stereo and an iPod. Or you'll have your published paper research journals and teh intarwebs.
I wouldn't mind having an e-reader because then I wouldn't have to pack 2 or 3 books when I travel. I could pack one smaller e-reader and read as many as I want.
But when I'm just chillin' at home, I'd much rather be reading a book. Particularly since reading that much on a computer screen makes my eyes hurt.
The two are certainly not mutually exclusive.
