after years of hearing that long books cost almost as much to produce and distribute as they sell for (remember what happened with AFfC?), I fail to see why publishers aren't embracing ebooks as a way to slash their costs. It seems like we should be able to have cheaper books (leading to increased volume), higher author royalties, and higher publisher profit all at the same time. Exactly who gets how much of this benefit would need to be worked out, but how much can it cost to get an ebook to the reader compared to a physical book? This whole ebook situation just makes publishers seem riduclously greedy to me. I'm a pharmacist, and if I could pay once to stock a drug indefinitely, it would definitely cost my patients a lot less and I would make a lot more selling it.

it makes much more sense to just buy a book. $5.99 is far cheaper than $9.99 *NM*

Yes, but you're talking about a paperback book, and one that's on sale at that.

Yuo can also be 10th on a waiting list at the library and read it months after release.

You realize that you could back up virtually your entire library on a single flash drive, yes?

If I were buying a book for mandatory reading (i.e., college), I might consider an e-book.

I prefer the opposite. I keep all my textbooks and prefer ebook versions of other works. *NM*

Sigh. This whole argument of ebooks versus regular books is beyond stupid.

In all fairness, when I got an iPod all my CDs went to boxes in the basement.

True. But there's no tangible difference between music from an iPod and music from a CD.
