I think his writing, in general, has diminished since the release of the 5th book.

He's also been known to write on an "off schedule". Look at the time between the other Alvin Maker books and the Ender series as well. Speaking of Ender, he really should have stopped at book 4 and called it quits. He comes off like a whore now with the Shadow series.
That being said, I still want to read book 7 of the Alvin Maker series, just for closure. However, just to be spiteful, I'll pick it up at the library. Hell, I'll probably read it AT the library. The way his writing has been in the past decade, whatever he writes, would only take a few hours to read anyways.
