I did not read Goodkind but did read the other two. While I agree that RJ's story proceeds along more cliche lines than GRRM's, I never liked GRRM's horrific violence and sexual abuse depictions and constant hops between characters, nor could I ever bring myself to care who will end up on the stupid throne... The only interesting characters were Jon and Tyrion, both of whom were absent in the last novel.
On the other hand, I reread RJ several times and will do so again. He touches me emotionally - I *care* about WoT characters and what will happen to them. Not so with GRRM, despite his tighter plots.
So call me shallow - I like the tragic hero archetype. Give me Kinslayer over Kingslayer any day!

Pretty sure Nynaeve did not have red hair. Also pretty sure she wasn't a priestess.

I think it was a tongue-in-cheek reference to an archetype, but yes, there are some errors here

Nynaeve doesn't have red hair! She has brown hair!

She's not a priestess, either. Other than "red-haired priestess" the rest was 100% valid.

I mentioned her not being a priestess in my earlier post.

Don't you think that, if that were corrected, the entries would be pretty much valid?

Point taken. Despite not being the target audience, I'd still like to take a look at it.

I think fionwe has a point - it's not some kind of literature/non-literature divide.

Actually, aSoIaF has one of the more accurate depictions of feudalism in modern fantasy. *NM*
