at least i don't think it is true if you through all of genre fiction in the bucket with SciFi/fantasy.

Beside once you start having conventions and people dressing up in custom you have reached a level of geekdom some people would choose to avoid.


is what, precisely, do you have left when you do that? Which books are "genre-less", and what makes them so?
