Yeah, as Rebekah said, switching to good books that have romance might help.

Hi, my name is Jim and I have a problem. I can't stop reading crappy romance novels. *hangs head in shame*
I used to bash the genre as it should be. Then about a year and a half ago I picked up one that my sister-in-law left on a visit. Did you know that these books are full of sex?! Wow were my eyes opened. I discovered that reading them with my wife led to lots of fun. Now I just can't stop reading them. At least the exercise is good for me.
So far this year I've read just over 32,000 pages. At least 25,000 of that is romance novels. I go to the library and find myself drawn back to the romances again and again. I just can't help it.
My son tried to force Stranger in a Strange Land into my hands in an intervention attempt. I'm sorry to say I rebuffed him.
What can I do? Is there any hope for me?

Stranger in a Strange Land, in fairness, is a rather weird book. I'm not sure you're missing out on much there.
As for actually good books that are romantic, I warmly recommend A.S. Byatt's Possession. Although the transition from average romance books to Byatt might perhaps be a bit harsh... Jane Austen, perhaps? Or, for books that fit better in the genre, you could try the reportedly quite amusing "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies".
Need help badly!
