I think that might be the result of the slower, more intentional pace of the story, the more controlled feel to it. Those moments of inconsistency or simply sloppiness, which are not that uncommon in larger works like this one, just seem to stand out a bit more. It steps the reader out of the flow, the world, that Rothfuss does such a good job immersing us into.
