Or systems: Sympathy and Naming.
Yes! I really like how it actually seems to take a lot of effort to learn how to do it and get better. And how the power and the danger that comes with it is really shown when Kvothe can't breathe...I don't seem to remember people who were learning to use magic in other books making such a huge mistake and putting themselves in so much danger - but that could be my bad memory
It also seems to be more 'believable' than a lot of magic systems, as it's more kinda entwined with the real world and what happens in physics and that (what little I know of it anyhow) rather than it's an extra layer shoved on the top of the real world.

It's almost as if the author decided there needed to be a little adventure to move the story along.

I did forget to mention the really horrible pun-type thing I thought of after his last scene.

The book has been compared with Harry Potter. Do you think this is fair? Why/why not? *NM*

I really couldn't say whether it was fair. Seems a weird judgement to me.
