To be honest, the magic school is the central setting in Harry Potter whereas in The Name of the Wind the University is his goal, but a lot of the plot occurs elsewhere. We spend more time in the actual classes in the Rowling novels and not so much with Rothfuss.

In some vague stretch, Kvothe is also a Boy Who Lived after a magic attack, but I'm really struggling to see many accurate parallels between the two novels.
