I read all 4 in succession, and the 4th didn't nearly come-off as bad as it was being panned online.
That said however, it was certainly a rather jarring experience to read having just finished SoS....one of the best fantasy books I've read.
And, on my 2nd read-through, I've faltered right in the middle of the 4th book. Partly due to picking up Robin Hobb's Farseerer, and more than partly due to the release of tGS. I've just started it again....and realized I still loathe Cersei.

I would slave, to pave the way, to sink your ship of fools.
So... A Storm of Swords

Definitely one of the books that got a bigger emotional response out of me *NM*

I personally enjoyed one of the plotlines in Feast very much and found the others to be so so. *NM*

I didn't HATE the Fourth book. It just wasn't as "wow" as Book 3 was.

I don't imagine it's quite so disappointing without the long wait. *NM*
