Just finished ASoIaF Book 3. Wowza. Random thoughts!
- Loved Jon's plotline in this book. How great was his speech on the Wall? And Ghost came back! That filled me with so much squee.
Jon is awesome. I don't care if people compare him to the Standard Fantasy HeroTM.
- Arya and the Hound are the best odd couple ever, they totally need to be reunited at some point. It was great to see Arya knock one off her list herself, way awesome. And is it wrong that I like Clegane?
Lots of people like the Hound. I don't think there's anything wrong with liking characters that arn't pure evil. If you're talking about GREGOR, you might need a sanity check.
- Jaime rocks
I was really surprised by how Jaime's character was turned on it's head. It's hard to think of him as the same person as that jerk in a Game of Thrones.
- Shae is a bitch. Good on Tyrion, for that and for his dad.
- Littlefinger is smarter than everyone! Holy crap!
Remember, life is not a song Sansa. Oh...
- I was spoiled for the main deaths, but they were still great. Especially Joffrey's. Best death ever. I was also spoiled for Cat's return so that lacked a certain impact
Who does that? Knowing they happen makes them lose most of the impact (you really missed out on this one). Cat's return was probably the most surprising thing to ever happen on the last page of a book. At least out of the ones I've read...
- The prince that was promised... It's Jon, isn't it?
Hard to tell. There's a theory about this prince in book 4, so I won't spoil it.
That's it. Onto book 4!
Enjoy. I'm going to warn you that the following characters don't have PoVs in book 4: Tyrion, Jon, Bran, Dany. Most of the backlash for book 4 comes from people who can't stand reading about other characters all the time; but on a board with so many WoT fans, this shouldn't be a problem.
So... A Storm of Swords

I personally enjoyed one of the plotlines in Feast very much and found the others to be so so. *NM*

I didn't HATE the Fourth book. It just wasn't as "wow" as Book 3 was.

I don't imagine it's quite so disappointing without the long wait. *NM*
