When the time comes, what fantasy and sci-fi series will you share with your children/nieces/nephews/random children/hypothetical children, since they all should be finished by then (then = X date in the future). Well, all except Martin's books, I suppose. ;)

Which will you make sure they read? Which would you tell them not to touch with a 10-foot pole?



(FYI this is entirely hypothetical)

Lord of the Rings, the Hobbit, Narnia, His Dark Materials for a start. Maybe Harry Potter. There's a couple I might recommend when they are a little older than that / I think they have the stamina to read them. Dune, the unmentionable series that should be finished by then.

I would recommend they don't touch aSoIaF, mentioning the violence and sex in it. I can't think of a better way to encourage kids to read it (and comes with bonus deniability).

Of course, it probably won't be finished by then...
