When the time comes, what fantasy and sci-fi series will you share with your children/nieces/nephews/random children/hypothetical children, since they all should be finished by then (then = X date in the future). Well, all except Martin's books, I suppose. ;)

Which will you make sure they read? Which would you tell them not to touch with a 10-foot pole?



Because it goes without saying (though I'll say it) that WoT, Narnia, and Lord O' the Rings (plus the Hobbit) would be on the list, along with Harry Potter. Also:

The Foundation series by Asimov
A Wrinkle in Time and its successors by L'Engle
Discworld, especially those featuring the Night Watch
The Belgariad and the Mallorean by Eddings
The original quartet of Shannara books

That will do to get them enthused. From there on out, there are plenty of stand-alone novels for them to read, and whatever other series interest them that aren't just plain stupid.
