As well as some obscure book coming out on Tuesday (not the end, but the beginning of the end anyway), Katherine Kerr's long-gestating Deverry Cycle comes to an end this week with the release of the fifteenth and final book in the series, The Silver Mage. The first book in the series, Daggerspell, came out back in 1986.
I've never read the series, but have heard good things about it. The series spans several centuries with the main characters being reincarnations of other characters who played major roles in historical events many years previously. The 'present' of the series appears to also span at least two generations of incarnations of the various characters. The setting is a Celtic-influenced world featuring dragons, wars, sieges and other typical fantasy elements. However, according to Wikipedia anyway, the series seems to feature much more accurate depictions of Celtic mythology and language than a lot of similar works aim for, and looks pretty interesting.
Anyone read the existing books? Any opinions?
