But being very much in love with the David Lynch film I pretty much knew what to expect when I read it, I guess.

1. How the hell can you like Dune? It's supposed to be, like, a masterpiece, after all. More like a piece of crap.

It didn't add much to the experience of the film version but it was still a good read, filled a few gaps etc. Found it entertaining and interesting. Even great as far as world-building goes.
2. How can one tolerate the characters? They're inhuman and arrogant (so, so arrogant!) and just plain disgusting. My favourite characters are the Harkonnens :D

So you found the characters disgusting and then decided to cheer for the most disgusting ones? :P
3. How do you pronounce Kwisatz Haderach? I say it like it was Germany (well, more like if it were Finnish, but that wouldn't tell much)

Yeah, I say it German too. Kweesutz Ha-dur-rach.
4. WHAT do words like faufreluches (which I guess isn't English), quasi-fief, fief-complete, hodded, baliset, gestalten etcetcetc... mean?

I dunno, I read it in German :P
Don't answer that :D I like the language of the book, though. Shows how much English there still is for me to learn. But it's hard!
