quotes are a difficult thing. The text should be able to be read without reading the actual quote, but still, the quote should be short, illustrate your point well, and very clearly marked. If you want to write a readable review, at least.
Also, avoid to get stuck on pretentious details. If something really hits your eye multiple times you should mention it, but one failed characterization among ten is hardly worth wasting space in a review for - unless it has a major impact on the entire story.
General impressions rather than detailed evaluation chapter by chapter is a good idea.
