I'd go so far to say, putting aside the fantasy element of it, it should be required reading for anybody who leans to the Left. I guess if you lean that way, the lesson of your stupidity hitting you as blatantly as it does in FOTF could grate.
Not that I agree with it at all, and to be honest the ending is rather disappointing, but the rest of the book is notable for being the only part of the series where Goodkind sticks to the old "show, don't tell" mantra as far as his political views are concerned. In terms of writing quality and effectiveness of conveying the message, I'd be inclined to rank it among the best SoT books, better than all others except WFR.
Though if one is traditionally right-wing and loves how sharply Goodkind attacks socialist and other left-wing ideas in FotF, I expect his merciless bashing of organized religion in later books has to be grating...

I actually kind of like Terry Goodkind's writing.
