The worst part was, Herbert actually had a major role in writing the script imlad Send a noteboard - 05/10/2009 06:22:42 PM
In 1984 I saw the film "Dune", I'd never read the books beforehand.

It seemed to me that the film was a lot of chopped up shots with little to connect them.

I couldn't figure out how the different shots were related, I found it totally over my head and thus very schnooze-worthy.

Can anyone convince me I should read the books?

It did not accurately portray the book at all. The book is fantastic science fiction. It's also very thought-provoking. You should read the book just to dispel the bad impressions you got from the movie.

And as much as I like some of David Lynch's work, this movie really is horrible, when you consider it as an adaptation. Otherwise, it isn't that bad.
Death to the Regressives of the GOP and the TeaParty. No mercy for Conservatives. Burn them all at the stake for the hateful satanists they are.
