And yes, that chap Dickens has written some retellings of famous movies or stories that are actually quite decent. His version of Oliver Twist has an even more sugary ending than the musicals, movies, etc. , but some of the secondary characters are excellent.

Thanks for the response! Truth is I haven't seen the Muppet version in years, I probably would've done some more compare/contrast if I remembered more of it!

The 1951 version (Alastair Sim) is really good too. I actually watched it on YouTube while writing this review. It added too much to the Christmas Past portion, but when it follows the book it's a really good watch.
