It's not just that there's all the fight scenes, but how pointless the fight scenes are. About a million different knights that I've never heard about or care for, knocking each other off horses, with literally the exact same sentence structure repeated ad infinitum with different names each time - as I said, mystifying how this is such a big classic. But then, seems it's the first big English printed version of the Arthurian legends, so that alone might explain it...
That said, you might be interested in the Mitford book - you're a big Evelyn Waugh fan, right? Kind of has that vibe, except non-fiction (and indeed, the man himself appears several times as he knew the Mitford sisters well).
What are you reading in October and November?
