Realistically just about every EU novel is borderline trash, though there are some notable exceptions like Zahn's Thrawn stuff and Darth Plageuis, whose author is writing some of the new books. Part of me almost wishes they'd write off the entire post ROJ EU and not even use a single name, just to avoid the mess, and let the EU continue on its own way, but realistically there's too many good thoughts and characters to harness out of it.
