After WOT I've really been jonesing for a new epic scifi/fantasy story. I've read most of the classics; dune, foundation, hitchhikers, thrones, LOTR...

I need a new series. I've heard Mistborn is great, but honestly, I never really liked how BS wrote Mat's character in WOT. I always thought he was trying too hard to be cool and came off as a nerd trying to be cool. Lan on the other hand, nailed it. Rand, awesome. But Mat was the only character who could have been actually cool in real life - and in my opinion - BS missed the mark.

Anyway, my question(s). Is Mistborn worth my time? Can you recommend any other EPIC stories on the level of those listed above?
