Keep books that have real sentimental value to you, but you should only keep them as objects of value. If the content is what matters, toss it and get a digital version.
You should keep nonfiction in text form, though. Easier to cross-reference.

If I enjoy books I keep them. If I hate them I give them to charity or to unsuspecting friends.
