I just kept reading it as Jane Eyre, and I'm even more disturbed post-iki to find out that the 'Eyre' in there isn't coincidental.

It's a decent book, though it's comedic fantasy, sort of like Pratchett only less British. The basic premise is that in that world, people can go inside of books and visit fictional worlds and interact with fictional characters, such as Jane Eyre, but it's possible to change the stories written on the page by doing so, so it's serious business. The main character, Thursday Next, is a literary enforcement officer who has to try to keep bad guys from altering classic novels. It grows from there, but that's the gist. I've only read the first two books in the series (there are five or six now, I think), but it was all right, good for a smile and a fun concept.

Oh, just that I couldn't even try to meaningfully thing about whether I knew the book or author because it had 'Eyre' in it, finding out that it wasn't coincidental and is actually related to Jane Eyre bugs me a bit.
