Yeah, that book is problematic on many fronts, yet it turns out that was by design (to some extent). Not that this explains why there's a seemingly greater-than-usual imbalance between male and female readers of this series.

While Erikson deserves credit, imho, for solid feminist stances in his writing and going out of his way to make female characters who are as "kick-ass" as the male ones, it hardly seems surprising that a series as full of war, fighting and generally "epic" moments as this one is more popular among men.
