Interesting....that second book doesn't even have any Amazon reviews!

The other book is completely different. It's The Haunted Book by Jeremy Dyson, published by my favourite independent house, Canongate. It starts off as a collection of hauntings around the UK and turns into something else entirely. I was kind of gobsmacked when I finished it, and grinned for a bit. Don't recall ever having had that reaction before.
I guess it is a pretty small indy house. I haven't read any "horror" stories since my Stephen King days (back in grad school), but I'm interested in giving one a shot after so long!
I'll try to hunt this one down (or just order it). Thanks!
After AMOL, I'm looking for something new, so let me ask - What was the best book you read in 2012?

Yes. The one I own is The Zimmermann Telegram, which is also great.

Well, depends on how broadly you want to define genres, I suppose...

Lord of Light- has some similarities to WOT in terms of themes

It's a great book, though Chronicles of Amber would seem closer to WoT

Check out the work by David Weber or L E Modesitt Jr if you have't already; both are excellent. *NM*
