Is that we simply don't care about her? This is meant to be one of the great falls of the books, and if it was a character we had met before and liked it could have been powerful and shocking. But instead it's just some annoying person we knew for about 5 mins before they were turning into a total sad-sack. Which largely results in a feeling of - oh noes, here we go again back to that moaning, doesn't make much sense, annoying story line.
Are the Malazan books any good?

They're among the best fantasy series out there, yes.

What makes it so good, your opinion? Also, does it have a satisfying conclusion? *NM*

I liked the first one; the second one, not so much. I haven't read beyond that.

Felisin always kinda sucked, but the second point was one of the best parts!

I think it's just indicative of general misogyny in the fantasy readerbase, myself. *spoilers*
