It seems UK/US readers aren't always going to be familiar with the other's beloved YA/children's classics. Alan Garner seems to be another that's popular in the UK but not very well known in the US. I suspect Judy Blume might not have been as popular in the UK in the 1970s/1980s as she was here in the US.
